#ThereWillBeChange!

Meet William M., a third-year Changeist and a high school junior from South Central, Los Angeles.

William originally joined Changeist to fulfill one of his graduation requirements: community service. Soon, he developed an appreciation for the program and its impact. Changeist allows William to give to his community in ways he did not envision before. Through workshops, site visits, and legacy projects such as hosting a dinner at Alexandria House, William is combating social issues prevalent in Los Angeles. William is now a third-year participant at Changiest and continues to use his voice to make a difference.

After high school, he plans to attend a four-year college and major in either Architecture or Aerospace Engineering. Although he's unsure of which college to attend, William's curiosity in and passion for technical work, along with his desire to support his father's construction projects, drive him to be the first in his family to attend and graduate from college!

William also plays bass in a band named New Vision, through Kid City Hope Place's music program. So far, he's performed at local high schools, such as Orthopedic Hospital Medical Magnet High School, competed in the Battle of the Bands, and even performed on Changeist’s Day of Reflection as a form of activism to raise awareness about the effects of the current administration’s policies on teenagers.

With William's commitment to serving the city of Los Angeles, enthusiasm for technical work, and involvement in music, his leadership, curious persona, and creative expression are evident and inspiring. He's a bright individual, and we cannot wait to see him thrive in college as a first-generation student from South Central, Los Angeles.
